About this Website

This website is a work in progress. It’s part of my master-plan to create a space on the internet where I can think, explore and showcase my projects all in one place. If you’ve hear of or used Obsidian before, it follows a very similar concept but is far more customized. However, I still have a long way to go.

This website is built on WordPress and converted to a static site, in an attempt to make it as eco-friendly as possible. I’ve minimized the use of Javascript (I’m still using d3.js though), am not uploading any fonts, and keeping the page weight super light so it consumes as little energy as possible. I also don’t use Google Analytics and external plugins. Very simple = climate friendly.

The goal is to eventually self-host this website, and power it via solar panels – just like Low Tech Magazine.

Below you can find some assorted notes of things I am still working on.

To-Do

  • Fix footnotes links (it does not get added to the backlinks section)
  • Backlinks
    • style the backlinks block to have buttons the same way and to have a “tree” structure where you can see where in the page it is references.
    • “backlinks” doesn’t show up if there’s none
  • external links don’t work when you click on them in the text
  • intersection observer for the title on scroll
  • graph overview links
    • i think i need to download d3 instead of using a cdn
  • template pages for categories and tags
  • categorize the generated posts as “generated” so it’s easy to figure out which ones are written
  • caching plugins or through netlify?
  • user select
  • migrate over a few existing posts
    • existing essays
      • the more you know the less you know
      • double doors essay maybe?
      • long form comic essay part 1
  • index
  • about page and page template
  • button and link consistency
